Wrinkles and facial lines result from ageing, muscle activity and genetic predisposition. In addition, excessive sun exposure, alcohol consumption, emotional and hormonal influences and smoking can also increase the likelihood of wrinkles.
At the Norup Clinic line and wrinkle treatments are performed by a qualified practitioner using only well-known, prescription-only, FDA approved products that have been tested to be effective and safe. They contain a key wrinkle-relaxing substance that temporarily 'freezes' muscles.
A micro thin, short needle is used to inject very superficially under the skin into the muscle. The effects normally last for up to three months and will gradually disappear as the product wears off.
Anti-wrinkle injections have been used on over one million patients around the world for over 15 years, with very few side-effects or complications. They are one of the easiest, least painful and safest treatments in the aesthetic industry.
After an initial consultation, assessing your medical health and which muscles ideally should be treated, The Norup Clinic may apply an anaesthetic cream and then a number of micro-injections are performed. The procedure should last no more than 15 minutes.
Discomfort is extremely minimal and very brief. There may be minor redness or swelling at the injection site, which subsides within minutes. You will be able to go home and return to your daily activities immediately after your treatment is completed. Very occasionally there may be a minor localised bruising that will last a few days. It can usually be covered with makeup.
Very occasionally some undesired effects can occur due to the product dispersing to the wrong muscle group but that is only temporary.
The treatment can take up to two weeks to take full effect but mostly it will start taking effect after a couple of days. A "top-up" or adjustment is generally recommended within two weeks.
Some patients may experience less effect or find that it lasts for a shorter time depending on their individual metabolism. Smoking and regular exercise can affect the durability.
